Operator Spotlight: Bobby from Epic Photobooth Perth
It's a new year and we are back with another installment of the ever popular Operator Spotlight series where we get to know the people behind the booth and why they love being part of this growing industry. This edition we get chatting with Bobby from Epic Photobooth Perth. Epic offers open style photobooths and service the greater Perth area in Western Australia as well as Mandurah.
Describe what you believe it is about photo booths which makes them so popular.
Being inside a booth makes it fun and exciting because you're secluded from the other guests, it's a good chance to break the ice and pull silly faces. Everyone get to take home a piece of the action and have a good keep sake memory.
How long have your been a "photo boother" and what made you decide to become one?
I wanted to work in a fun and positive environment where I could explore plenty of venues Perth has really opened my eyes to all the beautiful places we have available. Being a "photo boother" allows me to do this.
Is there one photo booth hire you have done that has stood out above all the rest and why?
We did setup at the Perth Arena. Good looking organised venue!
What do you believe it is about your photo booth hire business that sets it apart from your local competition?
We put everything into our booth presentation and photo-strip designs until our clients are 100% satisfied. Having a team of graphic designers set us above the rest. Our huge selection of props and backdrops are all included at every event, as well as a fully trained enthusiastic host to make sure your event runs super smooth.
What are some of the challenges of running a photo booth hire business?
Probably making clients aware of the cheap home-made photobooth operators out there. You get what you pay for in this industry. There's nothing worse for when you hire something for your event and it doesn't show up! I have "saved" some events because another company has failed to show up.
If you weren't a photo booth operator what would you be doing?
DJ/MC would be my next passion, or I'd probably still be running my cafe & catering business in Curtin University.
What's your the best tip you can give someone who is considering hiring a photo booth for their important event?
If you want to hire a booth. Find a company that isn't afraid to show you actual footage of how the booth looks and operates at an event. We have real video footage on our website's home page so clients know exactly who and what they're getting!
What's the funniest thing you have ever seen happen in a photo booth?
People using it as their own personal change room or dancing room (said laughing)
Is there a pose that you think is overdone and should be banned from photo booths?
The James Bond pose
So now you know a little bit more about Bobby and his motivations for being part of the ever expanding Australian photo booth industry. If you are after a fun photo booth to hire in Perth or Mandurah in Western Australia be sure to get in touch with him today.
