Operator Spotlight : Evans and Zenzo from Royal Booths
This week on Photobooth Finder's Operator Spotlight series, we chat with Evans and Zenzo from Royal Booths a Victorian based Photo Booth hire business. Royal Booths service Melbourne and all over Victoria from Geelong, Frankston to Ballarat and beyond. The boys found some time in their busy schedule to have a chin wag about all things photo booth.
Describe what you believe it is about photo booths which makes them so popular?
Evans: Having a few activities besides dancing at your reception is a good way to make sure all your guests have fun. Sometimes people just want a break from busting a move, and the photo booth provides a nice escape. It’s also a good place for people to gather and socialize.
Zenzo: Photo booths always add extra entertainment for an event. One thing I love about them is that they end up being the focal point of every event. People always get so excited taking pictures with the different variety of props we have.
Is there one photo booth hire you have done that has stood out above all the rest and why?
Evans: When we started royal booths we didn’t have any attendants working for us so we sacrificed almost forty weekends so we could complete all our bookings.During that time what stood out for me was a Turkish wedding which had about two hundred and fifty guests, the food the dances the decor the music the “Photo Booth” everything was galore and in profusion.
Zenzo: One interesting thing about this business is that all jobs are always different. The job that stands out for me is also the same Turkish wedding. It was good to experience how other cultures celebrate. I loved the synchronised dancing they did and it was just amazing to watch and they had a great time in the photo booth.
What do you believe it is about your photo booth hire business that sets it apart from your local competition?
Evans: The name says it all “Royal Booths“ we make our guest feel like they are royal from the exceptional service we provide them.We do not compromise on the quality off service that we provide to our customers. When we train our attendants the first thing they learn is a reminder of the basic-fundamentals of customer service - breath, smile and assist.
Zenzo: We always love to make every event special for our clients and we usually go out of our way to make sure that the client is happy and satisfied with our service.
What's your the best tip you can give someone who is considering hiring a photo booth for their important event?
Evans: To get great pictures of all your family and friends having fun with hilarious props is a huge plus, its something you will always treasure for example your granddad wearing a horse mask that is an iconic picture which will live forever.
Zenzo: People should know which venue they're planning to have their event before booking a photo booth as the size and accessibility of the venue always matters. There are 2 types of photo booths: open air booths and closed booths. Closed booths are usually bigger in size which means that they will be hard to fit in small spaces and also carry in places where there are stairs.
What's the funniest thing you have ever seen happen in a photo booth?
Evans: We have tall crystal centerpieces for decorative purposes on each Photo Booth table that we rent out and one drunk lady picked it up and decided she wanted to have a photo with this "blinging" object.
Zenzo: I think the chandelier incident goes down as one of the funniest moments for me too.
What are some of the challenges of running a photo booth hire business?
Evans: Guest taking props away from the props table to the dance floor is a classic one (laughing), in all honesty challenges will always be present in every business but in the Photo Booth world every day is a new day and everyday is different so we welcome the challenges.
Zenzo: The biggest challenge we face is juggling the business with our full time jobs and other business ventures we're working on. The other challenge especially at the beginning was making time to spend with our families but we've managed to find a good balance now as we now have attendants to man the booths.
